Sunderland RFC overpowered Jarrow 64-10 away from home in a friendly match.

Sunderland went into this away friendly needing a major confidence boost, they got exactly that from this match.

Sitting second bottom of the Durham and Northumberland division two, they currently will get relegated from English rugby’s 7th tier if they do finish in the bottom two. This win gave them the pick-up they needed.

Sunderland stated on their Twitter that they fielded a “Development team”, but this didn’t stop them from crushing Jarrow in a 64-10 away win.

Forwards coach Clive said: “The work was done upfront by the forwards, which allowed the backs to play with quick ball.

“Our backs are dangerous, they just haven’t had the chance to show this many times this year. Happily this changed against Jarrow.”

Both wingers Gerard Harford and Hadlington scored impressive hat-tricks, however the defence from Jarrow was approaching a level of it being non-existent.

Sunderland RFC will be hoping they can continue this form into the league this Saturday, when they play bottom side Winlayton Vulcans at home. Where they need a much needed win to try and get them out of the relegation zone.
