In an enticing and evenly contested game of badminton, Teesside Mens 1sts drew 4-4 with Sunderland Mens 2nds. Teesside’s Josh Crichton, who played the doubles game with James to a win and a defeat each, said: “The teams were evenly matched. It could’ve gone either today.”

“Sunderland played well. There were mistakes from both sides but the home team managed pretty well,” he opined about Sunderland’s performance on the day.

Teesside is currently third in the league, however, a draw has opened up a prospect of dropping down the table. But Crichton believes with more practice, it can get better and explains how it can be achieved: “Get back to training regularly; maybe twice or thrice a week.

“Consistency is an important issue. We need to work on not hitting the shuttles out of the lines. Sometimes playing a safe shot is better than playing the best shot. But consistency is what we need to achieve in our game,” he further reflected.

A draw was probably the fair result on the day, and Team Sunderland will need to pick up a few victories in the coming weeks if they have aspirations of finishing at the top of the league.
