Seaham Red Star manager Craig Lynch insists his side face a “tough task” when they face West Auckland Town away from home tomorrow evening.

The Star have been on a really poor run of late, and have won just two of their last 10 games and only three games in the whole of 2018.

They dropped to 17th on Saturday following a 3-1 defeat at home to Guisborough Town with Lee Hetherington scoring the only goal for Lynch’s side.

Opponents West Auckland sit in a very respectable third position in the Northern League Division 1 table, and have won four of their last five games scoring an impressive 12 goals in the process.

Last time out, tomorrow’s hosts beat Ashington 3-0 with goals coming from Anthony Bell (2) and Ross Colquhoun.

Thanks to postponements, this will be the first time the two sides have met this season and they will meet again on Saturday at the Ferguson Motor Repairs Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the game Lynch said: “After a poor result for ourselves on Saturday, we face a tough task against a very strong West Auckland team with a lot of quality.

“I want to see a big lift from the players showing more work rate and desire.”

As it stands, Kieran Galbraith, Luke Bailey and Nicky Kane will be missing from the Seaham squad and there could be more players out tomorrow depending on work commitments.

The game kicks off at 7:30pm at the Wanted Stadium tomorrow, postcode DL14 9AQ.
