Silksworth Colliery Welfare kept their brilliant start to the 2014/15 Wearside League going with a 5-0 win at home to Harton and Westoe CW.

Striker Liam Gill scored a hat-trick, with Mark Robinson and substitute Alexander Kempster adding one each, leaving Silksworth on 12 points from five games.

They are level on points with league leaders Stockton Town but have played a game more wearside-leagueand scored six goals less.

A total of 41 goals were scored in nine games this weekend.

Chris Stockton scored his third hat-trick of the season, in just four games, as Stockton beat Ashbrooke Belford House 6-1 at home. Max Craggs, Tony Johnson and Kallum Hannah also scored for Stockton.

The two other teams who lead the table are Easington Colliery and Whitehaven, who both won their games this weekend. Easington beat Wolviston 5-0 while Whitehaven travelled to Prudhoe, winning 2-0.

Jarrow picked up their first points of the season in thrilling fashion, drawing 3-3 with Annfield Plain. And Horden CW got their first win of the season in a quite sensational way, scoring seven against Richmond Town without reply. Peter Crawford and Thomas Wilkie both scored two.

Elsewhere, Redcar Athletic trounced Sunderland West End 5-0, Cleator Moor FC beat Hartlepool 2-0 while Gateshead Leam Rangers and Spennymoor Town Reserves played out a 1-1 draw.

The next round of Wearside League fixtures will be played on Wednesday (20th August).
