Elliot Slessor advanced to his first ranked semi final, only to be beaten by six frames to two, by two time world snooker champion Mark Williams.

Slessor revealed: “Basically [I] just tried to play my best all the time, to see how far it got me.”

Slessor had the chance to steal the first frame, but missing a red gave Williams a chance to clear up.

A convincing 127 from Williams wrapped up the second frame.

Slessor battled to win his 1st frame, after a mistake from Williams with a double kiss on the red, where he lost position.

For the remainder of the match Slessor didn’t do a lot wrong, but any faults will allow a former World Champion to advance.

Williams won the last three frames to clinch a 6-2 victory, before going on to win the tournament – beating Yan Bingtao 9-8 in a thriller.
