Match Preview: Dunston UTS FC vs Emley AFC
Dunston UTS FC welcome Emley AFC to the UTS stadium on Tuesday in the Pitching In Northern Premier League east division playoff semi final.
Both clubs will be desperate to reach the playoff final and gain promotion to the NPL Premier division. This will definitely be the most important game of the season for both of these sides.
Dunston’s win against Newton Aycliffe last weekend guaranteed them second place in the league with one game still to go. This would also secure them a home tie for this fixture.
On the other hand, it came down to the final game of the season for Emley. A 2-1 against Consett and other results going their way meant it was enough for the Pewits to make the playoffs.
A tie against either Stocksbridge Park Steels or Belper Town will await the winner of this match in the playoff final.
These two clubs have met each other three times this season, firstly in the FA trophy back in September last year. Emley managed to win 2-0 with goals coming from Amir Berchil and Samuel Pashley.
The two sides met again only a month after in the league. Two late goals meant the points were shared in a 2-2 draw.
Most recently in March, Dunston won convincingly in a 3-0 win at home. A brace from David Robinson and a goal from Dale Pearson gave the boys in blue a very important win as they pushed for a playoff spot.
Kick off on Tuesday night at the UTS stadium is at 7.45pm.
