Northstar host a successful first show of the year
Northstar have recently hosted their first show of the calendar year but their second of the boxing season. The show was a success for the club as they won 8 of the 13 bouts on display.
The show opened up with a skill bout from Harry Youll who faced Reece Townsley from Boldon ABC, which would be followed by the first win and scoring bout coming from Hirum Greenwell and Kai Patterson of Marsden, which saw Greenwell win on a deserving unanimous decision.
The next bout was Jake Reaper facing Joe Shenton of TITANS ABC, quickly followed by Kenzie Phillips against Mason Richardson which saw both local boxers win keeping the record unstained for the club so far.
Tyler Riley faced Mason Stainthorpe of Whitby ABC which was possibly the most bloody fight of the night seeing Riley win on a split decision. However the winning streak would come to an end once Sonny Unsworth came face to face with Taylor Locker, a stablemate of Stainthorpe. Which saw Unsworth lose on a split decision.
Layton Pennock would return the club to its winning ways as he beat Jay Shenton of TITANS ABC in the first set of bouts that were scored on three, three minute rounds. Followed by Thomas Muers who won via stoppage against Joe Hall of FFG, also being the only stoppage of the night.
Unfortunately Corey Wilson would lose to Connor Wilcox also of TITANS ABC, before Aaron Cunningham would triumph over Liam Henderson of Houghton ABC. Followed by Northstar’s last win of the night as Reggie Forster defeated Zak Scott of Sunderland ABC.
The last two bouts were between Joe Glenwright and Ollie Critchley of Sheffield boxing academy, which was shortly followed by Liam Duke and Callum Forster of Dunston ABC which saw both home boxers lose on split decisions.
At the end of the show fight of the night was deservedly given to Corey Wilson and Connor Wilcox after a thrilling back and forth which could have had either fighter winning by the end.
