Match preview: Sunderland AFC VS Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sunderland AFC face Wolves on Saturday in a huge game to turn their European push back on course.

Régis Le Bris side currently sit in 12th in the Premier League – and should be looking at winning Saturday’s game if they want to stand a chance at getting European football next season.

Between Sunderland and the 6th-placed Europa League spot, there is a four-point difference, with Everton, Fulham, Brentford, Chelsea and Bournemouth between Sunderland and the 6th place Brighton.

With it being close by a four-point difference, Sunderland will be reliant on the other teams between them and Brighton to lose or draw.

They have some control in this, with two of the Black Cats’ other upcoming fixtures being against Everton and Chelsea.

For Wolves, it is confirmed they will be relegated so there is nothing more they can do.

Their manager, Rob Edwards, could be looking to use the game to experiment with different formations, tactics and player lineups.

He could also look to rest crucial players ahead of the end of the season.

The last time Sunderland faced Wolves was at the Stadium of Light on October 18th last year.

Sunderland won 2-0, with a goal early on by Nordi Mukiele, as well as an own goal by Ladislav Krejčí in the 92nd minute.

The match takes place at the Molineux Stadium with a 3pm kick-off time.
