Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon in talks with Bayern Munich over potential summer move
Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is in talks about a potential move to German giants Bayern Munich this summer.
As reported by Keith Downie from Sky Sports Bayern Munich have now made official contact with the club after admiring the player since the start of this year. Newcastle will have to listen to offers for the England winger this summer as many people on Tyneside believe that the player will want to explore his options this summer.
Sky Sports have also reported that Bayern and Newcastle have a good relationship between the two. It has also been reported that Gordon’s agents have been pictured in Barcelona recently but there has been no contact between the two clubs about the player according to Downie.
After signing for the Magpies for £45 million in January 2023 Gordon has been an integral part of Eddie Howe’s side and has been a key reason for the recent success of the club. The 25 year old has had a strong season for the club with 17 goals and five assists in 46 games this season and is the top goalscorer for Howe’s side.
After a poor season for Newcastle which finds the club sitting in 13th in the Premier League Gordon may feel that this is the perfect time to leave Tyneside due to the potential of no European football next season.
A move to the German champions will be a big step for Gordon with high demands of a European giant like Bayern Munich where Gordon will consistently need to play at his best.
Colombian winger Luis Diaz has been outstanding this season for Bayern with 26 goals and 17 assists in 48 games with an exceptional performance in the first leg of the Champions League semi final against PSG where Diaz showcased his talents in an unbelievable game of football.
The Englishman may struggle to find his way in to the starting 11 from the off if he does join the club in the summer but only time will tell whether the move actually happens and if Gordon could be a Bayern Munich player next season.
