Team Sunderland Mens 7ths dominated as Northumbria 9ths cruised to victory
A day to forget for Team Sunderland saw them blown away in the first half conceding eight goals. Olly Hodgson and Andy Okungbwa completed their incredible hat-tricks to cap off an unbelievable 1st half for Northumbria.
Northumbria continued where they left off by scoring early in the second half. Team Sunderland had a good passage of play and were rewarded for their efforts scoring a consolation goal.
Team Sunderland returned to action this week after a frozen pitch postponed last weeks fixture.
Northumbria opened the scoring in the 10th minute with Hodgson’s shot from long range.
A crumbling Team Sunderland conceded another four inside 10 minutes, Hodgson completed his hat-trick through latching onto two balls behind the defence. Dan Riddington and Leslie Dodd Peterside also scored similar goals from close range after some poor defending by Team Sunderland.
Northumbria grew stronger in the game to deny any comeback by Team Sunderland as they added another two in the 23rd and 25th minute. Hodgson completed his hat-trick running onto a cross across goal by Nathan Harris. Meanwhile, Okungbowa scored his first of the game with a magnificent solo run.
Northumbria continued their demolition of Team Sunderland by adding another in the 35th minute as Okungbowa doubled his tally finishing inside the box.
Despite Team Sunderland’s seemingly courageous team talk it wasn’t enough to stop an early goal as Okungbowa scored his 3rd of the match with an outside of the box finish.
A good passage of play by Team Sunderland saw them snatch a goal back with Peter latching onto an over the top ball in the 55th minute.
However, Northumbria were too strong and battered off any fightback from Team Sunderland as they scored another 3 just 10 minutes later. The first of the three was a remarkable solo run from the wing by Dodd Peterside who added his second of the game. The next goal came with a scrappy clearance from Team Sunderland as Charlie Atkinson tapped it in. The final goal of the three was another poor deflection from Team Sunderland as Isaac Mauricio scored his first of the game.
Finally, a poor performance by Team Sunderland was capped off when Hodgson scored his 4th of the game after being left free at the back post with the away side taking all three points.
