Sunderland captain “delighted” with 7-0 FA Cup win

Sunderland Women captain Brianna Westrup was “delighted” with her side’s 7-0 thrashing of fourth-tier Durham Cestria in the Women’s FA Cup third round.
“We want to be a very creative attacking team,” the Scottish international told Spark Sunderland.
Westrup was among the goalscorers, grabbing a brace. Also scoring a brace was Katie Kitching. Liz Ejupi, Mary McAteer and Jenna Dear all got their name on the scoresheet at Eppleton Colliery.
“It was really important to come into this game and get back into the rhythm of things,” said Westrup.
Sunderland ended a run of three winless matches with their emphatic victory. The win puts Sunderland in the hat for the fourth round alongside Durham’s senior team and Newcastle United.
“We’re looking forward to see who we get in the next round,” though Westrup thinks that a draw against rivals Newcastle would be “fitting.”
“It would be a good fixture,” Westrup said.
“The men just got drawn that draw and I think it would probably be on a similar weekend.
“Any rivalry, Newcastle or Durham, you get well up for the game. So we’ll just have to see.”
Sunderland will learn their fourth round opponents at the draw which takes place at 9.30am on Tuesday, December 12 on Instagram.
