Team Sunderland returning BUCS fixtures confirmed
The conclusion of the winter break has finally arrived, with Team Sunderland back in action for the 11th week of BUCS fixtures on Wednesday, January 24.
Men’s Football 1sts will look to build on their thrilling 6-4 victory against the previously undefeated York 1sts in their final match before the winter break with a big return to action in a Wear-Tees derby against Teessides 1sts at 8 pm at Ford Hub – five hours after Team Sunderland 2nds take on the 4ths at the same venue.
The 3rds meanwhile are on the road as they head to Hull to face their 3rds with the hopes of making it four wins on the spin after a stellar end to 2023.
Back on home soil, and in a warmer indoor environment, there will be a plethora of action at CitySpace across a variety of sports starting with Men’s Fencing 1sts and Sunderland Netball 3rds at 1 pm who welcome Sheffield 2nds and Leeds 7ths respectively. Netball 2nds take to the court shortly after for another Wear-Tees derby as they face Teesside 2nds.
Remaining at CitySpace, the evening will play host to Men’s Table Tennis who are in search of a needed win against Durham’s 4ths in the penultimate fixture at the venue, before Basketball 1sts face a tricky fixture against Northumbria 2nds. The days final fixture on Sunderland soil sees Badminton Women’s 1sts take on Durham Women’s 3rds at the Beacon of Light.
On away turf, or rather grass, the day starts with a morning on the golf course as Sunderland head to face Leeds Beckett’s 2nds – while later on in the day Basketball Men’s 2nds and Badminton Men’s 2nds also face a trip to Yorkshire as they face Sheffield Hallam Men’s 3rds and Bradford Men’s 2nds respectively.
Closer to home Women’s Volleyball 1sts and Badminton Men’s 1sts will both be competing in Newcastle at 1 pm, with Northumbria 2nds and Northumbria 1sts the opponents at Sport Central. A trip Tyneside also beckons for Netball Women’s 1sts, who draw the day to a close against Newcastle Women’s 4ths.
