Who could be a surprise inclusion into Gareth Southgate’s 26-man Euro 2024 squad?
UEFA has announced that nations will be allowed 26-man squads compared to the normal 23 for this upcoming summer Euros Championships in Germany.
With that being said, Gareth Southgate will have the opportunity to include another three players with great talent to boost England’s chances of winning the competition where they failed at the final hurdle back in 2021.
Players like Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer will be hoping to claim one of the extra spots after their superb seasons with Newcastle and Chelsea both racking up over 20 goal contributions each in the 2023/24 season.
The most recent call up for Gordon against Belgium and Brazil will give him confidence after a strong performance against both sides.
A man who’s recent form will catch the attention of the England Manager will be Crystal Palace youngster, Adam Wharton. The 20 year old signed for Crystal Palace from Championship side Blackburn Rovers for around £20 million and has shown his worth within just a few months.
Wharton has gone from strength to strength under Oliver Glasner shining in a recent performance against Manchester United and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo which could give him a shot at the Euros squad.
Finally, players like Eberiche Eze and Dominic Solanke could have a real chance at securing a spot in Germany after fine runs of form in the Premier League helping their respective clubs out.
