Gateshead vs Solihull Moors preview
Gateshead FC will travel to Wembley for the second successive season against Solihull Moors for the FA trophy.
Gateshead, amidst the issues off the pitch regarding stadium ownership, will be looking to overcome their demons of the previous season’s final in which they narrowly lost to Halifax Town.
Solihull Moors will look to amend their own heartbreak having just lost to Bromley a couple of days ago at Wembley in which they missed the chance to take themselves out of the National League and into League 2.
Gateshead did end the league campaign in quite patchy fashion however they were subjected to play 5 games in 9 days. However, with their last game having been played on the 20th of April no doubt Rob Elliot’s men will be the freshest out of the two.
Solihull Moors before the playoff final against Bromley ended their league campaign strongly managing to win five out of their last six league games.
These two sides were supposed to meet in the play-offs but because of a lease issue regarding Gateshead’s Stadium, Solihull Moors were given a bye to the final. In the league campaign there was not much to separate the two sides, Solihull finished fifth, Gateshead finished sixth, but they were separated by a mere point and in the head-to-head against each other in the last five matches Gateshead won two, Solihull won two and one of the games was drawn. In the last 12 meetings both sides have won four and drawn four.
This game will be very close to call both clubs have a point to prove after previous heartbreaks at Wembley.
