Match Preview: Boston United Vs Newcastle United U21’s
Newcastle United Under 21’s head to Jakeman’s Community Stadium this evening in a National League Cup game against Boston United.
The Magpies currently occupy second in group C following a 6-5 win on penalties against Tamworth and a 2-1 win over Halifax Town whilst opponents Boston currently sit in fifth place after picking up three points in their opening two games.
Newcastle head into the game on the back of a three-game unbeaten streak in all competitions whilst National League newcomers Boston have won one in their last 14 league games and have recently changed managers with former Newport and Mansfield manager Graham Coughlan now at the helm for the Pilgrims.
Diarmuid O’Carroll has a full-strength squad available to him whilst Coughlan will be without Connor Teale and Lennon Wheeldon who are both cup-tied for the fixture.
The Pilgrims will have to keep an eye out for top scorer Ben Parkinson who has scored five goals in all competitions this season for the Magpies. Midfielder Travis Hernes has also impressed this season for the Toon. Jai Rowe will be a man for Newcastle to watch as he made the National League Team of The Week following Boston’s 0-0 draw at Ebbsfleet.
Kick off at The Jakemans Community Stadium is 19:30.
