Newcastle Benfield run riot against in-form Whitley Bay

Newcastle Benfield 4-0 Whitley Bay

Benfield continued their fine form, running riot at the MKM coming out four goals to the good against the Bay.

Noah Millington got himself a brace in the opening 20 minutes, a fine finish as well as a looping cross finding the far corner. Andre Bennett added a third just before half time, then Kyle Fryatt sealed the deal in the 80thminute putting the game to bed.

Benfield came into the game on the back of a fine 1-0 away win against rivals Newcastle Blue Star. Whitley Bay, however, were not shy of form themselves, beating West Allotment Celtic 6-1 last time out.

The Lions came flying out the traps, a rapid counterattack led by Bennett proved to be lethal. Bennett picked out Millington on the left-hand side, Millington first beat his man resulting in a one on one against the Bay keeper, and he made no mistake, slotting home into the bottom left corner.

Millington doubled his tally 15 minutes later, a left footed cross lobbed the keeper, Joe Ames claimed to have got a touch, but the goal went to Millington.

Benfield didn’t stop there, Bennett’s header on the stroke of half-time wrong-footed Whitley Bay’s keeper, finding its way into the bottom left corner.

Fryatt with ten minutes to go, showcased great composure, rounding the Whitley Bay goalkeeper, then slotting the ball into an empty Bay net. Fryatt’s goal proved to be the final nail in the coffin of Whitley Bay.

The win moves Newcastle Benfield moving them into fifth place of the EBAC Northern League Division One.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Benfield boys, facing off against West Auckland on Tuesday night at the MKM Stadium.
