Match Preview: North Shields vs Newcastle Benfield
North Shields welcome Newcastle Benfield to the Daren Persson Stadium.
This afternoon’s fixture is a season defining 90 minutes, and it’s certainly not to be missed!
Last time out…
Last Saturday Benfield welcomed Marske United to the MKM. An own goal coupled with smart finishes from Jospeh Thompson and Noah Millington rounded off a dominant performance from the Lions, seeing off the Seasiders 3-0.
North Shields faced Marske themselves on Tuesday night and came out 3-0 winners. A Will McCamley hat-trick saw the Robins take all three points from The John Keegan Stadium.
Where the sides stand…
Newcastle Benfield sits in sixth place, with 62 points from 36 games played, whereas North Shields find themselves eighth, with 59 points from 35 played.
Being this late into the season, it doesn’t take much explaining to realise the magnitude of this fixture. A real six pointer.
Player to watch…
McCamley is my player to watch for this afternoon’s fixture. With a hat-trick last time out, the forward will be full of confidence. Eager to get at Benfield’s backline. This of course will be no easy feat, with Benfield’s defenders not conceding more than one goal in a game since January!
Previous meeting…
North Shields visited the MKM back in September. The Robins won 4-0. However, since then, under new management, Benfield have made dramatic progress. Both teams come into this game in impressive form, this game is not to be missed.
