The 18-year-old, who has been progressing through Sunderland’s and the national team’s youth setup in recent seasons, has been included in Armenia’s squad for the upcoming international break.

He has also helped contribute to Sunderland U21’s 3-1 triumph over Watford U21’s in the Premier League Cup, helping the young Black Cats into the semi-finals of the competition by scoring the opener in the tie at Eppleton.

Geragusian has impressed many in Sunderland’s academy system, where he has become a regular figure for the club’s under-21 side. The forward has contributed towards 12 goals and two assists in 23 games for both the U21’s and U18’s in the 2025/26 campaign.

The call-up reflects both his steady progress at club level and his eligibility to represent the country through his family heritage.

Armenia will have two friendlies in the March camp – as they are set to face UAE on March 26th and Belarus on March 29th

The inclusion of emerging players such as Geragusian signals a continued effort to expand their pool of talent and integrate younger prospects into the national setup for Armenia

From Sunderland’s perspective, the call-up is also a positive sign. Seeing academy players reach international level is often highlighting the fact that the club’s development structure is producing players capable of progressing beyond youth football.

For Geragusian himself, the focus will now be on making the most of the opportunity and continuing his rise both internationally and in Sunderland.
