Preview: Premier League Darts Night Seven – Dublin
The BetMGM Premier League of Darts heads to Dublin on Tuesday, with Jonny Clayton looking for his third nightly win.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the quarter-final meetings…
Match 1: Gian van Veen vs Michael van Gerwen
Van Veen takes on van Gerwen in their first meeting since the week-one final in Newcastle.
The Green Machine came out on top last time out, but is yet to win since pulling out of week three due to injury.
Van Gerwen suffered a shock defeat in Germany losing to fellow Dutch star Niels Zooneveld in the last 32.
Van Veen suffered a 6-1 defeat to Wessel Nijman in the last 16.
My prediction: van Veen 6-4 van Gerwen
Match 2: Stephen Bunting vs Luke Littler
The Bullet takes on The Nuke with both of last week’s semi-finalists looking to add points to the tally.
Bunting comfortably beat Josh Rock last time out, creating a gap between himself and the Northern Ireland star.
Littler is second behind Jonny Clayton and will be looking to close the gap.
My prediction: Bunting 3-6 Littler
Match 3: Josh Rock vs Gerwyn Price
Rock’s search for his first Premier League points continues as he takes on Gerwyn Price.
Price moved up to world #8 after reaching the final in Germany at the weekend – suffering an 8-3 defeat to Nijman.
Rock also suffered defeat to Nijman in the Euro Tour, losing 6-2 in the quarter final as the Dutch star picked up his first major title.
The pair have met ten times with the Iceman winning six to Rock’s four and has won the last two meetings.
My prediction: Rock 2-6 Price
Match 4: Jonny Clayton vs Luke Humphries
In a repeat of last week’s final in Nottingham, the Ferret takes on Cool Hand.
Clayton has an eight-point lead at the top and has won all six of his first-round ties so far.
Humphries’ last victory over the Welsh #1 was on the Master final last year.
Clayton has since beat the world #2 in a European Tour event and twice in the Premier League.
My prediction: Clayton 6-3 Humphries
