Jarrow FC Reserves finally win cup after “desperate” wait
On Good Friday, Jarrow FC Reserves wrote themselves history with a 1-0 victory at Eppleton, against Deerness Valley FC who are a league above to win the DCFA Minor’s Cup.
This season, Jarrow are top of the Wearside League second division needing nine points to confirm the title and two wins to see them promoted to the first division with four games remaining as of now. They will face Sunderland RCA on Tuesday evening as they look to build more momentum.

Additionally, they have a quarter final of the Washington trophy to come this following weekend.
I spoke to assistant manager Dan Burrell upon the famous cup win. He said: “We’ve been desperate to get our hands on the trophy, especially after coming so close last season.
“I think it’ll give everyone a lift as we approach the run-in at the end of the season.”
Burrell, who’s coaching background has only just begun, has already achieved his UEFA C license as he looks to strengthen his experience in this field.
He also overseen a cup double as a coach at Chester Le-Street ladies won the Norh East Regional Premier League and the Durham County Cup.
Now, he carries on his assistant manager role at the reserves and added about his involvement in these types of games: “These are the games you want to be involved in, competing against the best sides at the level is always challenging.”
“You’ve got to be creative and find a way to make sure everyone’s able to showcase their best performance levels.”
The preparation for a game of this calibre is so high with so much on the line. I asked how his lads prepared for the final he answered: “We managed to watch the opposition prior to the game, so we spoke a little about what to expect on the day.”
“After that, it was pretty much the same game plan that got us into this position. We didn’t need to give a big motivational talk; the lads knew what was at stake.”
It is remarkable of how far the side has come in their short history getting achievements such as the DCFA Minors Cup and other league standings and cup runs.
Jarrow continue their strong league form of winning 15, losing three and drawing zero as they will look to capitalise on their already great season thus far.
