Match Preview: Seaham Red Star vs Grangetown BC

Seaham Red Star will host Grangetown Boys Club in their final home game of the regular season on Saturday as they aim to seal their play-off position.

Red Star are coming off the back of a 1-0 away defeat to FC Hartlepool, their first loss in the league since February 17th, which came against Saturday’s visitors.

The Boysies’ form has been indifferent of late, most recently winning 2-1 away at Prudhoe YC, however a bitter taste was left after Brandon Gredziak was shown a red card just minutes from full time.

Seaham will want to put on a show with it being the final fixture at the Alexandra Steakhouse Stadium until a probable play-off campaign.

A win would put them on 78 points with games in hand on those below them.

A win for the visitors would secure another season in Northern League Division Two.

Grangetown currently stand five points above the drop zone and with just two fixtures to follow Saturday’s matchup, an eight-point gap would confirm safety.

The hosts haven’t lost at home since January 17, and Mark Collingwood will be hoping to keep that record intact for the upcoming play-offs.

It is easy to predict a Red Star triumph, however Grangetown won’t need much motivation with their league status on the line.
