Boldon fall to defeat against Jarrow in Ernest Armstrong Quarter-Final
Boldon 0-3 Jarrow
A second half dismantlement saw Jarrow beat Boldon 3-0 in the Ernest Armstrong Cup Quarter Final.
Levi Collins opened the scoring on the 54th minute before Callum Johnston doubled Jarrow’s advantage four minutes later. James Harper added a third in the 70th minute.
This fixture was Boldon’s second cup game in a week as the club looked to continue their good form since the turn of the year.
An even first-half saw Ollie Walker make a great save from Ryan Hardie in the only major chance of the half.
Jarrow dominated the second half, as former Boldon talisman, Collins, broke the deadlock through a penalty on 54 minutes.
Jarrow doubled their lead just four minutes after their first, as Johnston raced through one-on-one before finishing neatly.
Things went from bad to worse for Boldon and goalkeeper, Walker, as a clearance rebounded off Jarrow forward, Harper, and trickled over the line to make it three.
A disappointing night for the Villa at the Colliery Welfare Ground in front of 215 supporters, here is Dan Crooks’ take on the game:
“Second half we had a real dip in quality, lack of attacking threat and costly mistakes ultimately was the difference. They showed their quality and why they’re third in the league.”
