Match Preview: West Bromwich Albion vs Sunderland
Sunderland are back in Championship action on Saturday against fellow Play-Off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.
Regis Le Bris’ side picked up a vital three points against Millwall last weekend. Trai Hume’s volley steered Sunderland to a fifteen-point gap from Bristol City in seventh.
Enzo Le Fee and Leo Hjelde are both expected to be in contention for the trip to the Hawthorns. Midfielder Alan Browne filled in at right back against Millwall, with Hume at left back.
Sunderland’s penalty woes continued against the Lions. Luke O’Nien failed to convert from twelve yards taking Sunderland’s penalty record to one out of five for the campaign.
A huge blow after converting six from six from the spot last season. Jack Clarke converted five with Adil Aouchiche scoring the other away to Cardiff.
West Brom are led by former Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray who guided the Black Cats to a Play-Off spot in the 22/23 campaign.
Callum Styles is set to face his former club after a short stint on Wearside last season. Mowbray has recently confirmed that ex Cats striker Josh Maja is set to miss the rest of the campaign through injury.
The Baggies fell to defeat away to Norwich last time out with a late strike from Canaries forward Josh Sargent. Mowbray’s side are currently sixth in the league and battling it out so seal a spot in the top six come the end of the campaign.
West Brom have drawn seven from seven against the top four during the campaign. Albion held the visitors to a goalless draw at the Stadium of light back in late November.
The Championship clash kicks off at 12:30pm on Saturday at the Hawthorns.
