Top of the table battle sees Warriors come out victorious
Whitley warriors 3 – 1 Edinburgh Capitals
The Warriors came into this game with a five game long winning streak, but knew the Capitals would be a strong opposition, with them having only lost two games since the season started back in September.
As soon as the puck dropped the Capitals were pressurising the Warriors.
Callum Queenan was the first to score, placing the Warriors in the lead in the first 5 minutes, assisted by Anthony Wetherell.
Whitley Warriors net minder Thomas Brown makes some exceptional saves in the first period leaving the score to remain 1 – 0 in the warriors favour at the end of the first period.

As the second half started, Brown demonstrated his skills, blocking three attacks from the Capitals all in quick concession.
Warriors second goal came from Alternative Captain Philip Edgar who scored a top shelf goal in the 29th minute of play, extending the teams lead over top of the table Edinburgh Capitals.
The Capitals continued to fight back, having a shot hit the crossbar just a minute after the Warriors second goal.
A big fight broke out between Warriors Captain, Adam Wood and a Capital causing both players to face a five minute penalty for fighting and a 10 minute penalty on top of that for unsportsmanlike conduct.
During the third period, Dean Holland received a 2 minute penalty for tripping, leading to the Capitals scoring their first point of the game on a power play.
For the last 2 minutes of the game the Capitals swapped their net minder out for a 6th player in a desperate attempt to tie the scores.
However, this strategy does not aid their game but instead leads to Harry Harley scoring Warriors 3rd goal in the last 50 seconds of play.
The Game ended Warriors 3 – 1 Capitals, which is the first time the Capitals have been defeated this year.
Thomas Brown was awarded man of the match for his impressive saves against the visiting team, blocking over 30 shots on target.
The Whitley Warriors next game will be against Aberdeen Lynx on 9th February for their first game of the Scottish Cup Semi Final.
