Seaham Red Star 3-2 Newcastle University: Red Star make it seven in a row in five goal thriller
Jack Leonard continued his goalscoring form, scoring Seaham’s winner after Newcastle University levelled the game having been 2-0 down through James McGeorge and Ryan Appleby strikes.

Seaham started the game in fashion as Leonard jinked through several challenges before teeing up McGeorge who struck powerfully past Ross Logan.
Red Star had the better of the first-half – however weren’t performing to their usual standard – as Jack Thynne threw his body in front of a goal-bound shot just before the break.
Ryan Appleby was back in the starting lineup after a long term absence, and he was back in style. The forward raced through just minutes after the restart to double the Seaham lead with a composed finish.
You would have been forgiven for expecting the game to peter out with the hosts’ recent form, but Newcastle University hit back with force. Two goals in eight minutes from Matthew Foster – penalty – and Caden Ragonzinski had the game at a surprising 2-2, Seaham’s winning run was under threat…
It’s impossible to write off Seaham Red Star right now though, Jayden Gray’s stunning volley hit the crossbar and fell to Leonard who swept home for the winner.
That’s a remarkable SEVEN wins in a row for Red Star, as they climb to 4th in Northern League Division Two.
