A hat-trick from Olly Martin ensured Hebburn Town came from behind to beat Lower Breck in the FA Vase yesterday.

Louis Austin put the hosts in front just four minutes in, before Martin equalised 20 minutes before half time.

The Hornets came flying out of the blocks in the second half and goals from Carl Taylor, Michael Richardson and another two from Martin meant Hebburn went back to South Tyneside with a place in the fourth round.

Playing on an artificial pitch, Lower Breck were in front in the fourth minute when Louis Storey lost the ball to Austin and he immediately buried the ball in the bottom-left corner.

Hebburn could’ve equalised in the 22nd minute but Martin’s header on the end of Richardson’s cross went just over.

Martin put the visitors back on level terms two minutes later when Ben Dibb-Fuller’s cross was badly dealt with by the home defence enabling the forward to fire the ball home at the far post.

Chances were few and far between after that until five minutes into the second half when Taylor headed home from close range on the end of a good ball in from the right.

Hebburn continued to exploit the right-hand side and they scored a similar goal two minutes later when Martin’s cross was headed down by Graeme Armstrong before Richardson put the ball away at the far post.

Richardson very nearly scored a second in the 57th minute when an ambitious effort from the halfway line was pushed wide by Lower Breck goalkeeper Joshua Molloy.

Moments later, Hebburn had their fourth when Armstrong played the ball down to Martin and he hit it first time in the bottom-left corner beating the ‘keeper.

Martin then got his hat-trick in the 72nd minute when he headed home on the end of Richardson’s cross.

Chances were few and far between after that, and the Hornets went home worthy winners.
