UOS Indoor Cricket side well beaten in opening fixtures

A mixed Indoor Cricket side showed up at Maiden Castle on Saturday morning, with difficult games in Durham 1’s and Leeds 2’s.
Winning the toss in the first game, captain, Alex Dietz, elected to bowl first against the North-East powerhouses and Durham 1’s made easy work making a high total of 162-1, with spells Jude Steadman and Daniel Snaith being the high point of the fielding innings. The sole wicket was a clever run out at the non-strikers end, being taken by Snaith.
In response, the hosts made it easy for them by taking the wickets of the Sunderland batsmen, using their experience and professional ability to bundle the visitors all out for only 19.
In the game against Leeds 2’s, the toss was won again, this time the choice was to bat. Early runs from Daniel Snaith and late runs from Akash Chakrabarti showed some promise, however mistakes at the crease left the six batsmen of Sunderland all out for 40.
It took only 20 balls for Leeds to chase the total, with an over from Aaron Poulton being the high point of a dour innings.
That left the side with two defeats out of two games played, with a win coming from a conceded result against Northumbria, and a lot to be worked on ahead of the next two sets of fixtures to be played in the competition.
