Monkwearmouth’s highly successful year 7s will face prolific opponents Thomas Telford in the last eight of the ESFA National Cup.

Year 7
- Thomas Telford last won the ‘Under 12 9-a-Side Schools’ Cup’ in 2017, playing at Derby County’s Pride Park in a 4-1 victory against runners-up, Northampton School For Boys.
- They won the competition, too, in 2014 defeating St John the Baptist School and made the final in 2008 – losing to Shenfield High School.
- They also won the ‘Under 12 9-a-Side Elite Schools’ Cup’ that year, winning out against Riddlesdown Collegiate.
- Thomas Telford were 2016 winners in the ‘Under 12 9-a-Side Schools’ Cup for B Teams’ competition, seeing off Glyn School who lost their second final in a row.
- The school finished runners-up in the same competition in 2013, this time Harefield Academy were the winners.
- They are two-time winners in the ‘Under 12 Indoor 5-a-Side Schools’ Cup’, tasting victory in 2004 and 2017.
Year 8
- Their under 13s won the ‘Elite Schools’ Cup’ back-to-back in 2017 and 2018, facing Whitgift School and Langley School respectively for the honours.
- They won the ‘Under 13s Schools’ Cup’ in 2016, again defeating Whitgift School.
- In 2015, Thomas Telford beat Glyn School to win the ‘Under 13 Schools’ Cup for B Teams.’
Year 9
- Thomas Telford are two-time winners in the ‘Under 14 Elite Schools’ Cup, taking the trophy in 2016 and 2019.
- The ‘Under 14 Schools’ Cup’ is perhaps their most dominant competition, with four cup wins: 2006, 2010, 2018 and 2019.
- The school won the ‘Under 14 Schools’ Cup for B Teams’ in 2015, winning out versus Weydon School.
Year 10
- Two-time runners-up (2016 and 2018) and winners in 2019 of the ‘Under 15 Elite Schools’ Cup.’
- They won the ‘Under 15 Schools’ Cup’ in 2019, coming second in 2016 after losing out to Bishop’s Stortford High School.
- Champions in the ‘Under 15 Schools’ Cup for B Teams’ in 2018, playing Hampton School this time round.
Year 11
- Winners in 2016 of the ‘Under 16 Elite Schools’ Cup’ but took second place in 2019.
- Thomas Telford took home the ‘Under 16 Schools’ Cup’ in 2013 and 2016.
