He has lit up League Two this season and has been hailed as the “Geordie Maradona”, Newcastle fans need to start taking notice of Elliot Anderson.

Most Toon fans will remember Anderson from his debut last January in the FA Cup, in which he impressed in a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal. Nine days later he would make his Premier League debut against the same opposition, coming on as 87th minute substitute. However, following his debut Newcastle fans would not see Anderson again for the rest of the season as he dropped back down to the under 23s side.

In January of this year, Anderson joined Sky Bet League Two side Bristol Rovers, in the hope of securing some vital first team experience. The Whitley Bay born midfielder’s impact has been huge to say the least. The Scottish youth international, has thrived under Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton, who of course spent four eventful years playing for the Magpies. Barton has been full of praise for the youngster describing him as the ‘Geordie Maradona’.

The creative midfielder has contributed to 10 goal contributions in 20 games. Playing on the left, the right and in the middle, Anderson’s form has helped push Rovers into the play off spots.

Charlie Hayne, @OneRoversVlogs, has described Anderson as “one of the best players” to play for Rovers in recent times.
