Who can Gateshead face in the FA Trophy semi-final? When is the cup draw? Everything you need to know
Gateshead sealed their place in the final four of the FA Trophy for the second time in the club’s history after defeating tier 6 side, Farsley Celtic, on penalties 4-2 following an initial 0-0 draw.
With the Heed plagued by injuries, it was a coup to reach the semi-final, where they have it all to do if they are to make a Wembley appearance in May. Of course Gateshead fell short at this stage in 2018, when Bromley won a closely-fought two-match battle 4-3.
But Mike Williamson’s men will surely hope to make it one step further this time and be within touching distance of major silverware. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the FA Trophy semi-finals.
Who can Gateshead face in the semi-finals?
Gateshead can face either Barnet, Altrincham or FC Halifax Town, after they knocked out Maidstone United, York City and Aldershot Town respectively.
In the league, things haven’t been so bad against these opponents – home score first:
vs Barnet: 2-2 (H) and 1-1 (A)
vs Altrincham: 1-3 (H), and 2-2 (A) and 2-1 (H) in the FA Cup
vs FC Halifax Town: 0-0 (H) and 2-0 (A)
When is the cup draw?
The draw will be held live on talkSPORT 2 on Monday March 13, at 3pm.
When will the matches be played?
The matches will take place on the weekend starting Saturday, 1 April. It will be a one-legged affair, with penalties set to determine the match if the game is tied after 90 minutes.
The two semi-final winners will meet at Non-League Finals Day to be held at Wembley Stadium on 21 May for a 3pm kick-off.
Ticket information will be released by Gateshead, as well as the other teams to make the draw in the event of an away tie, in the coming weeks.
