Match Report: Gateshead 3-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
A brace from Louis Storey helped Gateshead climb out of the relegation zone in a 3-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
Louis Storey found the opener with his bullet header in the 20th minute. The Heed defender secured his brace with a composed finish in the 35th minute. Greg Olley added his name to the scoresheet with his long-ranged goal in the 67th minute.
Mike Williamson named a similar team that was seen in the 3-2 victory against Aldershot last week. After scoring against Aldershot, Adam Campbell would get a well-earned rest on the bench. Stephen Wearne would get his first start in a Gateshead shirt in replace of Campbell.
In the 20th minute, Gateshead attempted four shots at goal but failed to find the first goal of the match. Josh Strizovic saved Marcus Dinanga’s attempt from close-range. The Dagenham goalkeeper then saved two consecutive shots from Olley before Harry Phipps cleared Connor Pani’s attempt off the line.
Six minutes later, Storey found the back of the net to give Gateshead the lead. The Gateshead defender managed to guide Olley’s whipped cross into the roof of the net.
Storey got his second goal of the game to double Gateshead’s advantage in the 35th minute. A defensive error from the Daggers allowed Storey to follow up on a loose ball to get an easy finish.
Marcus Dinanga would hit the post in the 48th minute. Dinanga danced his way past the Dagenham defence before his attempt from 21-yards hit the post.
Gateshead got their third of the game via Olley in the 67th minute. The Gateshead skipper had lots of work to do after he dribbled past two Daggers defenders before he unleashed a low-driven from outside the box which Strizovic couldn’t react to.
