Jordan Henderson and Pickford out – England fans’ preferred lineup ahead of Scotland clash

Jordan Henderson and Jordan Pickford are not favoured by fans for tonight’s match.

BBC Sport users have selected their preferred England lineup ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly against Scotland – and have opted against the Sunderland-born pair of Jordans Henderson and Pickford.

The Three Lions didn’t exactly set the world alight in last Friday’s Euro 2024 Qualifier, succumbing to a 1-1 draw against Ukraine in Poland in which both Henderson and Pickford started. BBC Sport users have decided it’s time to freshen things up.

The majority have declared that they would prefer to see Maddison dropped back into the midfield, with Marcus Rashford slotting in on the left wing, taking the place of the former Liverpool captain in a more attacking lineup than is typically associated with Gareth Southgate.

Newcastle’s Nick Pope was not included in the squad, with Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone completing the squad. The Arsenal shot-stopper is the better choice of the three in the squad according to the fans.

Also making way from the lineup would be Harry Maguire, with England fans hoping to see a young centre-back pairing of Fikayo Tomori and Levi Colwill.

Southgate has a reputation for being loyal to his regular lineup, so it seems unlikely that he will listen to exactly what his countryfolk want. What would be your lineup? Let us know in the comments.

PREFERRED LINEUP: Ramsdale / Walker, Tomori, Colwill, Chilwell / Bellingham, Rice, Maddison / Saka, Kane, Rashford
