Match preview: Swansea City vs Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough’s poor form continued on Wednesday night as they fell to a 2-1 defat to Hull City, they will be hoping to get their first win in December as they take on Swansea City at the Swansea.com stadium.

Whilst it is unlikely that either will be available for Saturday’s game, duo Riley Mcgree and Hayden Hackney are closing in on a return with the latter potentially making the squad on Saturday this being a massive boost for Boro with the squad desperate for more players.

Michael Carrick said: “Of course, we’d love all of them back as soon as possible, but in reality, it’s a long season and we have to think about that longer period of time. We want to get them back but it has to be when they are ready to come back so there are hopefully no repercussions.”

Swansea are without a manager after Michael Duff’s sacking so interim boss Alan Sheehan is set to oversee his third game in charge with him doing a good job so far with a win at Rotherham being followed by a draw away at Stoke City midweek.

The Swans could be boosted with some players back from injury: “Joe Allen is out training on the grass, so are Mykola (Kuharevich), Nathan Wood and Kristian Pedersen.”

Middlesbrough will be looking to get there third league win in a row against the Swans for the first time since 1966 with a win much needed for Michael Carrick’s side.
