Dan Burn captains Newcastle United to 4-1 win in 100th club appearance
A local lad captained Newcastle United on his 100th appearance for the club.

Defender Dan Burn made his 100th appearance for Newcastle United in Saturday’s 4-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.
Burn, from Blyth, signed from Brighton and Hove Albion for £13 million in January 2022, as part of manager Eddie Howe’s first transfer window in charge.
Since his arrival on Tyneside he has played a vital role. First, when he aided the club’s successful fight against relegation in 2022.
Burn was also an integral part of the Newcastle side that picked up 72 points in 2023, which saw them finish 4th in the Premier League, and return to the Champions League after 20 years.
That season Newcastle’s conceded 33 goals, a tally bettered by no one and matched by Premier League champions Manchester City. Dan Burn was an ever present feature in that Newcastle defence and appeared in every game.
He signed a 1-year contract extension in October 2023 that will see him remain at the club until 2025.
