Newcastle Eagles 94-71 Caledonia Gladiators
The Eagles are through to the semi-finals of the BBL Championship Playoffs after beating the Gladiators by two legs.
The Eagles dominated the first half and looked to be in business once again. They went into halftime 51-36 to the home side.
Caledonia fought in the third quarter as they scored 20 points, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to catch the Eagles. They brushed Caledonia aside in the 4th Quarter and scored 25 points, as they cemented their place into the next round.
The Newcastle Eagles was portrayed as the underdogs in this Quarterfinal match-up. In the normal season, the Gladiators finished 3rd place and the Eagles finished 6th place.
Newcastle wanted to get their job done in the same manner as the first leg, as they went into this game 1-0 up in the series. The first leg finished 97-78 to the Eagles in Caledonia.
Newcastle Eagles will play the London Lions in the Semis and the first leg will be played in the Capital on Sunday 12th May.
Tahj Green’s finish and Ricky McGill’s three-pointer pushed the Eagles in the first Quarter.
Kyle Jimenez tried to build some momentum for the Gladiators as he drove it in after a double-team in the second quarter, but it was difficult to turn around as the Eagles were 15 points ahead.
McGill had a fantastic game and was named player of the game. He scored an impressive 22 points and set up 3 for his teammates.
