Spennymoor Town 2-1 South Shields
Spennymoor Town progressed through to the third round of the FA Trophy after an action packed first half.
South Shields opened proceedings in the seventh minute with a goal from Will Jenkins. Spennymoor equalised in the 28th minute through star-man Rob Ramshaw, the eventual winner came in the 38th minute with Tom Allen getting his first goal since joining the club.
Moors came into this game unbeaten in their last four, however yet again talisman and clubs leading goalscorer Glen Taylor missed the game due to injury. South Shields were off the back of a 4-0 hammering from Kidderminster.
South Shields opened the scoring early through their number ten Jenkins who capitalised on Spennymoor losing the ball in a dangerous area which gave Jenkins an easy finish.
Spennymoor equalised 20 minutes later through star man Ramshaw. Reece Staunton glided past two South Shields defenders and played it square to Ramshaw who stabbed home from ten yards.
Not long after, Moors scored what turned out to be the winning goal of the game. Allen, who joined moors in the summer, grabbed his first goal of the season and what a vital goal it was. Allen latched onto a hopeful ball forward and toe poked the ball past the goalkeeper.
Moors kept up the pressure in the second half, however they were unable to get a third goal.
It ended 2-1 to Moors at the Brewery Field and Spennymoor progressed through to the third round of the FA Trophy where they will play Alfreton Town.
