Luke Littler is The UK’s most searched Athlete in 2024

Luke Littler has recently been announced by Google as the most searched for athlete in the UK in 2024 beating the likes of Jude Bellingham and Lamine Yamal.

Littler has seen a huge rise in fame over the last year after his performance in the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship where ‘The Nuke’ finished second in the tournament after being ranked 164th in the world before the championships.

The final was watched by over 4.8 million people live on Sky Sports and became the highest ever viewing audience on the channel for a non-footballing event.

Littler has had a very successful debut year in Darts winning two PDC major titles in the 2024 Premier League of Darts and the World Series of Darts. Earlier in the year he also became the youngest person to hit a televised nine-darter at the Bahrain Darts Masters. The 17-year-old followed up with a second nine-darter at the Playoffs night of the Premier League at the O2 in London in May  against world number one Luke Humphries.

As a sport, Darts has seen a meteoric rise in the past year in viewing numbers and interest in the sport on a national and international level. This being partially down to the success of Littler and the story behind him of how such a young athlete can rise so quickly to the top of a sport.

Littler has also recently been nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the year and Sports Personality of the year awards. Simply being nominated for these awards shows the impact that he has had on the sporting world in this country and how he may be at the top of sport for many years to come.

The Englishman will now be looking ahead to the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship which starts on December 15th where Littler will either face Ryan Meikle or Fallon Sherrock in the first round of the tournament. ‘The Nuke’ will be hoping to go one step further than last year and will try to claim his first World Championship title.
