Team Sunderland Firsts 4-1 York St John Firsts
Team Sunderland rounded off a successful afternoon at the Ford Quarry Football Hub against York St John with a 4-1 win in the first team game.
The match got off to a lively start, with four goals in the first 25 minutes. Sunderland broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with a powerful low drive into the bottom-left corner.
York St John levelled the scoring just three minutes later through a finish from close range after a one-on-one save from Sunderland goalkeeper Aaron Steavens wasn’t enough to thwart the attack.
However, Sunderland hit back with two goals in quick succession. A 20-yard screamer in the 21st minute put the home side back in front before a towering header from close range doubled the lead just minutes later.
Sunderland went further ahead just after half time with a fantastic solo run and finish made it 4-1.
