Sunderland win two of three netball games in Clash of the Minsters.

Team Sunderland made a strong start to this year’s Clash of the Minsters with two wins in three netball matches at Cityspace.

In front of a packed crowd at the Cityspace sports hall, Sunderland thirds defeated York St John’s by a score of 26-13. It was a dominant performance from Sunderland who led 10-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The second team was less fortunate falling to a 33-52 defeat as York St John scored a clinical 30 points in the second half.

In the final netball game of the day Sunderland led from start to finish to earn a 57-50 win. However, the result wasn’t as comfortable as it could have been for the home side as York St John staged a late fightback to reduce the deficit in the final two quarters.
