Logan Paul: Impressive in the ring but lacks character

Logan Paul has caused mainstream headlines and viral moments ever since he made his way to the WWE, but he hasn’t made himself must see.

When Paul was first introduced to the WWE audience, it was seen to reach a different demographic and that old cliché of bringing in new fans.

Which is due to the brand he built up for himself as a content creator with his YouTube videos. Now whilst Paul has seamlessly exceeded everyone’s expectations inside the ring and the number of times he’s created a “viral moment”, he hasn’t quite yet evolved his persona.

When you look at the roster, a certain number of people such as your Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes etc. Whoever you name it, you can see what they represent and what makes them standout week by week on television.

Now credit to Paul he has brought attention to those surrounding him via social media as well as hosting such wrestlers on his podcast ImPaulsive, as well as brung in other influencers such as KSI and Ishowspeed, which again exposes the superstars Paul is in with.

But it’s becoming more apparent that Paul can only cut the one promo every time he makes a TV appearance, there’s a serious case of repetition going on.

He’ll make his entrance, insult the fans, brag about his accomplishments such as his YouTube or his business ventures and then eventually someone comes out, hits him with their finisher and it starts a rivalry with no real depth to it.

Recent evidence to this is what he had going on with AJ Styles, it was the same thing, and Paul couldn’t really string together a promo that would garner fan interest, which led to a flat crowd at WrestleMania due to insufficient work put in to build this rivalry.

Which is where Paul currently sits in, he gets booed out of the arenas, or sometimes just the minimal reactions and no one is taking an avid interest in who he is in a rivalry with.

The damage was already done when he won the United States Championship in 2024, with his insufficient defences and minimal appearances, great wrestling ability can get you so far, but as has been the saying for many months ongoing now, in professional wrestling you need both aspects of great storytelling and great Wrestling.

Paul can continue to be a trend on social media and whilst we know he puts in the hard work when the bell rings, when it’s time for him to talk his trash on the Mic he’s falling short of the margin, the cocky, arrogant in your face guy just, isn’t going to work each and every time.

Paul needs to evolve because currently he does not lack any clear identity, and it could potentially lead to him falling out of the Wrestling Business.
