Geordie outrage as Newcastle United announce plans to redesign club crest

Newcastle United have recently announced their plans to reach out to fans about the potential rebranding of the club’s crest.

A statement released by the club reads: “We’ve been asking ourselves: how well does our current crest represent the club today? And how well will it serve us tomorrow?

“This isn’t a decision we take lightly. We love our crest. It’s iconic and has stood us through unforgettable triumphs and testing times. But it was created in a different era. Its intricate design doesn’t always translate well in today’s digital world. And it’s difficult to reproduce it clearly and consistently.

“As football and the world changes, so too must the symbol that unites us.”

Fans have reacted across social media, expressing their frustrations and disappointment at the potential of losing their iconic and beloved badge.

The current badge has been with the fans through most of their iconic moments in history, including qualifying for the Champions League and their most recent Carabao Cup final win against Liverpool.

Changing the crest could cause disruption and potential divide within the club and the fanbase, at a time where Newcastle United need the fans on their side more than ever, as they enter a difficult battle for Champions League qualification next season.
