Team Sunderland’s Week 5 round-up

Mens Rugby and Women’s netball were the toast of Team Sunderland as BUCS week 5 proves a tricky week for Wearside.

Performance of the week went to Rugby Men’s 1sts as they comfortably won 39-19 against Huddersfield Men’s 1sts.

Netball was a success for the Women’s 1sts as they got back in the win column with a 60-24 victory away against York St John’s 2nds.

Team Sunderland were winless in their football outings with the Men’s 2nds beaten on penalties 1-4, after drawing 4-4 in the game at home. Men’s 1sts lost 5-0 to Lancaster 1sts at home, whilst Women’s 1sts were beaten 8-1 by Newcastle 1sts. 

A similar story in Basketball followed as all three of Team Sunderland’s sides suffered defeat. The Men’s 1sts lost 73-65 to LJMU’s 1sts away from home, Men’s 2nds lost 85-73 against Sheffield College 1sts at home and the Women’s 1sts lost 72-33 to Sheffield Hallam’s 1sts away from home.

A mixed bag of results came in badminton as Team Sunderland’s Men’s 1sts won 5-3 against Edge Hill’s 1sts at home, remaining unbeaten this season. Whilst, the Women’s 1sts lost 8-0 to Northumbria’s 1sts at home.

The final game of the week was the Volleyball Men’s 1sts who lost 3-0 to Chester 1sts away from home.
