Team Sunderland’s week eight round-up

Despite strong weather conditions cancelling some of this week’s BUCS fixtures, it has still been one of the most positive weeks of the campaign so far, with some important wins for Team Sunderland.

Snow on Wednesday meant that all four of the men’s football matches were called off, and after last week’s free schedule with no cup matches, the teams will be desperate to get back in action next week.

The only football match to take place came in York, as the Women’s 1sts fell to an unfortunate 10-1 defeat to York’s 1sts on Wednesday afternoon.

Perhaps the biggest result of the week came at CitySpace, as the Men’s Badminton 1sts comfortably eased past Northumbria’s 1sts with a 7-1 victory.

However, the Men’s 2nds unfortunately made it back-to-back defeats, as they lost 8-0 to Northumbria’s 2nds.

In Rugby Union, the Men’s 1sts continued their excellent start to the season, as they made it three wins from the opening four matches with a superb 21-20 comeback win over Leeds Trinity’s 1sts, with Zach Campbell scoring the winning conversion in the last moments.

It was another victory, also, for the Women’s Netball 1sts, as they have made it two wins from their last two after their first defeat of the season with a 44-36 victory over Newcastle’s 4ths at CitySpace on Wednesday evening.

The Netball 2nds also endured another impressive week of BUCS action, as it’s four wins from their opening five to kick-start their campaign, as they eased past Teesside’s 2nds with a 37-14 win.

On the other hand, it was a disappointing trip to Leeds for the Netball 3rds to face their 7ths, as the home side cruised to a comfortable 118-5 win.

Also, it was another disappointing evening for the Men’s Basketball 1sts, as they couldn’t build upon last week’s morale-boosting victory over Durham’s 2nds, and fell to a 69-90 point defeat to Northumbria’s 2nds at Sport Central in Newcastle.
