First leg of the Scottish Cup Semi Final sees Warriors captain facing a possible suspension
Whitley Warriors 4 – 4 Aberdeen Lynx
In a hard fought display Whitley Warriors could not break ahead of Aberdeen Lynx,
Aberdeen started strong, breaking away with the puck from the initial face off and Jack Hutton had an attempt on goal within the first minute for the visiting side, but was blocked by Warriors Thomas Brown.
The first goal goes to the Lynxes who score in the 10th minute of play. Callum Queenan ties the score, scoring Whitley first goal with 7 minutes left.
However the tie didn’t last long as Jayden Baxter scored 20 seconds later, leaving the Warriors trailing behind by a point at the end of the first period, despite them having more shots on target.
The first penalty of the game was given to Aberdeen’s Daniel Topping, who received a two minute penalty for tripping, this led to Harry Harley scoring Whitley’s second goal of the game in the 29th minute under power play.
Warriors captain Adam Wood received a 5 minute penalty and a game ban for misconduct and spearing, possibly leading to a longer suspension, predicted to be a 3-4 game ban.
During the last minute of the second period, the Lynxes broke into the lead again when Sean Dyer shot the puck into the back of the net from near the start of the Warriors zone.

The third period started calmer than the previous two but Ben Richards was the first to score once again tying the teams.
An interference penalty was given to the Warriors, leading to the Lynxes getting a penalty shot which made it to the back of the net.
In the last 7 minutes Ollie Jardine scored a vital goal for the Warriors, making the final score 4-4.
As the game ended in a draw the second leg of the semi final on 8th March is even more important.
Warriors man of the match was Anthony Wetherell for his assists throughout the game.
