Preview: Premier League Darts Night 12 – Liverpool
Stephen Bunting looks to pick up his second nightly win on home soil as the Premier League of Darts heads to Liverpool.
Match 1: Gian van Veen vs Gerwyn Price
Price ran riot in Germany at the weekend picking up his 10th European Tour title as he became only the second player in Euro Tour history to reach double figures, beating Ross Smith 8-6 in the final.
Price faces van Veen to kickstart proceedings on Merseyside.
Van Veen lost his only match in the Euro Tour with a 6-3 defeat to former Premier League finalist Joe Cullen.
The Dutchman will be looking to add points to his tally in the race for the play-offs after losing to Luke Humphries last week.
My prediction: van Veen 4-6 Price
Match 2: Stephen Bunting vs Jonny Clayton
The Bullet faces no easy task at home, coming up against league leader Clayton.
The Ferret has won the last two nights in Brighton and Rotterdam and will be looking to extend his lead at the top.
Bunting has been averaging well just not being able to get over the line at certain points of the season.
The Bullet lost a 4-0 lead to the Ferret back in night two in Antwerp.
My prediction: Bunting 6-5 Clayton
Match 3: Josh Rock vs Michael van Gerwen
Rock takes on van Gerwen in the night’s third quarter-final.
Rocky has won all of his last four first round ties.
The pair have met twice with the Green Machine winning on both occasions.
Van Gerwen once again struggled in Rotterdam last time out, losing to Clayton.
The world #4 currently sits in the play-offs with a three-point cushion with five weeks to go until finals night.
My prediction: Rock 6-4 van Gerwen
Match 4: Luke Humphries vs Luke Littler
Humphries takes on Littler in the game of the evening.
The pair met last week in the semi-final with the Nuke winning a last-leg decider.
Cool Hand sits fifth after 11 weeks of darting action and is three points off the play-offs.
Littler sits five points behind Clayton at the top of the pile.
The Nuke reached the final in Rotterdam but was unable to overcome the league leader.
My prediction: Humphries 4-6 Littler
