After recently securing their safety in the National League, the Heed couldn’t break down the Cardinals, as goals from Harry Beautyman, Matt Ward and Olly Sanderson helped the visitors ease to victory.

Ethan Moore came close for the Heed on six minutes, as his right-footed strike forced a save from Will Jaaskelainen.

Woking should’ve took the lead on 15 minutes, but Chinwike Okoli’s back-post header bounced wide from close-range.

Beautyman gave the visitors the lead just before the half-hour mark with a poachers’ effort, after a scramble in the Gateshead penalty area fell straight to him at the back post.

Woking’s counter-attacks continued to cause problems for the hosts – and Jamie Andrews should’ve doubled his side’s lead 10 minutes into the second half as he fired over from close range.

Woking eventually doubled their lead on 67 minutes when Ward’s shot somehow snuck through the hands and legs of Adam Desbois from a tight angle.

Substitute Jacob Butterfield forced a save from Jaaskelainen with 15 minutes to go, as Gateshead began to pile the pressure on Woking’s defence late on, while also hitting the crossbar.

Deep into additional time, Olly Sanderson topped off a great away performance by Woking by adding a third and making sure their was no doubts around the full-time result.
