Hebburn Town 0-4 Grimsby Borough – Match Highlights + Match Report

Hebburn Town were left shocked as Grimsby Borough ended their eight match winning streak, as the hosts lost out 4-0 on Saturday.

A nine-minute spell in the first-half sealed the game in Grimsby Borough’s favour, with goals by Brody Robertson, Luis Adlard and Reece York giving the visitors a three goal advantage at the break.

Robertson followed up early into the second-half, but the truth is the game was decided a long time before the 50th minute. 

Hornets’ boss Daniel Moore says his side “was not at the races” at the weekend, as the team played perhaps their weakest performance of the campaign.

He told the club’s social media: “The lads have been outstanding but they have to be better on the day.

“Individually we weren’t good enough, and they looked sharp to the ball. They won every ball compared to last week, we won every first, every second and we didn’t win one today.

“They won them all and that’s where, ultimately, football matches are won.”

New arrivals Kieran Charlton and Jake Hackett, who were both named in the starting eleven, could not do enough by themselves to prevent Grimsby Borough from securing their biggest victory this season. 

There was little of note for Hebburn on the day, which really surprised the 287 in attendance given their exemplary form heading into today’s fixture.

The result takes Grimsby Borough one point behind Cleethorpes Town, and a further four points behind the play-off spots, and while the shock defeat hasn’t derailed Hebburn’s campaign, the team needs to regroup and refocus if they are to bounce back against Ossett United next Saturday.
