Billingham Town came from behind to beat Hebburn Town 4-2 in the Northern League at the Energy Check Sports Ground today.

Goals from Daniel Wright and Graeme Armstrong put the hosts two goals to the good midway through the first half, before Jack Connor got one back on the brink of half time.

And in the second half, Craig Hutchinson scored two and Luke Hogan popped up with one to secure the win for the visitors.

The game was however affected by a 25 minute delay due to floodlight failure which occurred in the 63rd minute.

Hebburn started the game brightly and were in front within 10 minutes when Olly Martin’s cross was nodded on by Armstrong before Wright controlled the ball well and slotted home from close range.

The Hornets doubled their lead in the 33rd minute when Michael Richardson lobbed the ball over the defence and Armstrong buried the ball in the bottom right corner.

The hosts could’ve made it three 10 minutes later when Martin’s effort was cleared off the line following a good run on the left.

Billingham got the all important goal to bring them back into the game just before half time when Elliott Beddow’s cross was tapped in by Connor.

Two minutes into the second half, the visitors got an equaliser when Hutchinson headed home at the far post on the end of a corner.

And the striker nearly got his second eight minutes later when his effort hit the post.

After the long break due to the floodlights, in the 75th minute Jamie Davies linked up with Hogan who put the ball into an empty net at the far post to put Billingham in front.

Without much pressure from Hebburn, the Teesside club put the game to bed in the 88th minute when Beddow squared the ball to Hutchinson and he fired the ball into the top-left corner.

Up next for Hebburn, who drop to third, is Whitley Bay at home on Tuesday.
