Hebburn Town got back to winning ways with a resounding 4-1 win over Northallerton Town yesterday afternoon in North Yorkshire.

It could’ve been 6 or 7-1 with the Hornets missing a number of chances in the first half.

Michael Richardson put the visitors in front early on before Michael Rae equalised for Northallerton early in the second half.

Following Lee Brockbank’s 10 minute sin-bin, there were goals from Olly Martin (2) and Graeme Armstrong to secure the win for Kevin Bolam’s side.

Hebburn were in front just five minutes into the game, when Dan Groves intercepted a goal kick, headed it forward and Richardson smashed the ball past the goalkeeper following Armstrong’s nod-on.

Richardson nearly got his second in the 11th minute, playing a good one-two with Michael McKeown before the Newcastle United academy graduate’s shot was pushed onto the bar.

Chances were few and far between after that until the 43rd minute when Tom Potter played a good ball across goal before Martin slid the ball wide.

On the brink of half time, Richardson demonstrated good ball control before hitting the post from just inside the box.

Northallerton started the second half well, and got an equaliser in the 57th minute when ‘keeper Tom Dawson launched the ball up to Rae and he took the ball round Mark Foden and slotted home.

Seven minutes later, Hebburn very nearly got back in front when Martin’s header was cleared off the line before Armstrong’s rebound went over.

In the 69th minute, the Hornets did get back in front when Armstrong headed from a corner across to Martin at the far post who headed past the ‘keeper.

Four minutes later, the visitors were awarded a penalty when Martin was brought down in the box and Armstrong buried the spot-kick in the bottom left corner.

In the 77th minute, Armstrong and Martin linked up well again with the former playing a good ball through to the in-form winger who beat the keeper one-on-one slotting the ball home.

Chances were few and far between after that, and Hebburn got a well deserved three points.
