England have made it through to the quarter finals of a major tournament for the third time in a row after goals from former Sunderland man Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka saw the Three Lions to vicotry over the African champions, Senegal.

An enjoyable night for supporters all over the country, but how did the players fare individually?

Jordan Pickford 8

Made a great save in the first half to keep Senegal striker Boulaye Dia from putting his side ahead. He made good distribution however, after England went ahead in the game the Everton keeper didn’t have much to do.

Kyle Walker 6

Struggled to link up with Saka on the right-hand side and during the first 30 minutes was put under pressure by the Senegalese however, as the game went on his performance improved.

Harry Maguire 7

Not his best performance in an England shirt. He tried to play between the lines a lot in the first half which resulted in a few of mistakes. As England went ahead however his performance and willingness to play forward helped his side.

John Stones 6

Was caught off guard often in the first half and had pretty lacklustre performance. Didn’t look forward enough in his passing and was substituted in the 77th minute.

Luke Shaw 7

A solid performance from Shaw, having great balance up and down the left-hand side. Snuffed out any danger that went down his side and did his best to get forward and provide further up the pitch.

Jude Bellingham 9

Another fantastic performance from the 19-year-old midfielder. Made great runs going forward, provided a great assist for Henderson’s goal and was instrumental in England’s second goal. Phil Foden described him as “not having a weakness in his game.”

Jordan Henderson 8

A few eyebrows were raised when the Liverpool midfielder was included in the starting line-up however, he shut down his critics with the opening goal for the 3 lions and solid performance for the rest of the game.

Declan Rice 7

Another solid performance as he protected the back four and looked to get forward up the pitch and provide up and down the pitch. Was a great engine in the midfield.

Bukayo Saka 8

Added his 3rd World Cup goal with a great chip to make it 3-0 to England. Put in a lot of effort to track back when under pressure and looked to get forward and take players and link up with Harry Kane.

Phil Foden 9

Another great performance from the Manchester City winger, providing a great through ball for Harry Kane’s goal and another cross for Saka’s goal. Caused problems when staying high and wide and also when dropping deep.

Harry Kane 9

The England Captain finally got his 1st goal for this World Cup. Was a nightmare for the Senegalese defence, dropping deep and playing on the last man. He linked up well with the England forwards and took his goal well.

65th Minute substitutes

Marcus Rashford 6

Had couple of runs in the attacking third however did not have a chance to find his rhythm has England looked to see out the game.

Jack Grealish 6

Picked up the ball deep a few times however he also could not find any rhythm.
